1. Check the CISCE registration yourself
An ICSE school has to be affiliated to CISCE, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations. CISCE runs the ICSE examination in Class X and the ISC examination in Class XII. Ask the school for its CISCE school code and its registered name, which is often different from the name on the gate, and check them on the CISCE website.
Stepping Stone Surajkund is registered with CISCE as Stepping Stone Children Academy, school code UP255.
2. Ask whether it goes up to Class XII
Some ICSE schools stop at Class X. That means another admission at fifteen, either into an ISC school or into a different board. If you want one school from Nursery to Class XII, ask which ISC streams are offered and which subject combinations are actually running this year, not just on paper.
3. Ask for results with names, not one topper photo
A banner with one topper tells you very little. Ask how many students sat the board exam, how many passed, and for the full list of percentages. A school that is proud of its results will publish all of them.
In 2026 Stepping Stone had a 100% pass in Class X and Class XII across its campuses, 29 students scored 90% or more, and the toppers scored 97.4% (Class X) and 97.0% (Class XII). The full list of names and percentages is published with the original PDF.
4. See the laboratories in use
ICSE Science has a practical side in Physics, Chemistry and Biology, and it grows in the ISC years. Visit during a school day and ask whether students do the experiments themselves or watch a demonstration. Ask the same about the computer lab.
5. Ask how often children are tested
If the first real test is the half-yearly exam, a gap can go unnoticed for months. Ask how often each subject is tested and what happens when a child does badly.
At Stepping Stone every student sits a short subject test each week, on top of monthly tests, two unit tests and the half-yearly and annual examinations.
6. Ask how you will hear about progress
Ask how often parent–teacher meetings happen, how results reach you, and who you call if you are worried in the middle of a term. You should come away with a name, not just an office number.
7. Get the full fee schedule in writing
A monthly tuition figure is not the full cost. Ask for everything in writing: admission charges, annual charges, tuition, transport, books and uniform. Then compare the yearly total between schools, not one line.
8. Visit on a normal working day
Open days are arranged. A normal Tuesday is not. Visit while classes are running, watch a change of period, look at the toilets and the bus bay, and ask to meet the Principal. Ten minutes on an ordinary day tells you more than a brochure.
