How to choose the best
CBSE school in Gorakhpur.

Gorakhpur has dozens of CBSE schools and most of them call themselves the best. CBSE makes a lot of information public, so you can check much of what a school tells you before you even visit. Here is what we would check.

Updated 27 October 2026

1. Look the school up on CBSE SARAS

Every CBSE school has an affiliation number. Ask for it, then search it on CBSE's SARAS portal, which shows the registered name, address, the level the school is affiliated to (secondary up to Class X, or senior secondary up to Class XII) and how long the affiliation runs.

Stepping Stone Maniram is affiliated as Stepping Stone Inter College, affiliation number 2132439, at senior secondary level. See the CBSE record.

2. Read the mandatory public disclosure

CBSE asks every affiliated school to publish a mandatory public disclosure on its website: affiliation details, teachers and their qualifications, the fee structure, infrastructure and safety certificates. If a school cannot show you one, ask why. Maniram's disclosure is linked from our families page.

3. Check it is affiliated up to Class XII

If the school is only affiliated to Class X, your child will need a new school for Classes XI and XII. Check the level on SARAS, and ask which streams and subject combinations are actually running this year.

4. Ask for results with names

Ask how many students sat Class X and XII, how many passed and for the full list, not one topper on a hoarding.

In 2026 Stepping Stone had a 100% pass in Class X and Class XII across its campuses, 29 students scored 90% or more, and the toppers scored 97.4% (Class X) and 97.0% (Class XII). The full list of names and percentages is published with the original PDF.

5. See the labs on a school day

CBSE Science has practical work from Class IX and practical examinations in Class XII. Ask to see the labs while classes are running and whether students do the experiments themselves.

6. Ask how often children are tested

A child who is only tested at the half-yearly exam can fall behind for months without anyone noticing. At Stepping Stone every student sits a short subject test each week, plus monthly tests, two unit tests and the half-yearly and annual examinations.

7. Get every fee in writing

Ask for the full yearly cost: admission, annual charges, tuition, transport, books and uniform. Our fees checklist lists the questions to ask.

8. Visit on an ordinary day

Visit while classes are running, not only on an open day. Watch a change of period, see the bus bay and ask to meet the Principal.
